Frequently Asked Questions

Yoga Classes & workshops

  • Slow yoga is a mindful, unhurried style of practice that moves through poses at a gentler pace than a typical yoga class. Rather than flowing quickly from one pose to the next, you'll spend more time settling into each position, focusing on alignment, breath, and how the pose feels in your body. It's yoga with space to actually experience what you're doing.

  • While both are gentle practices, slow yoga is still an active form of movement — you're engaging your muscles and building strength and flexibility, just without the rush. Restorative yoga uses props to fully support the body in complete stillness. Slow yoga sits somewhere between a dynamic flow class and a restorative class.

  • Absolutely. The slower pace gives newcomers more time to understand each pose, follow the instructor's cues, and find their footing without feeling overwhelmed. That said, slower doesn't always mean easier — holding poses for longer can be genuinely challenging, even for experienced practitioners.

  • Many people find slow yoga particularly supportive if they're managing an injury, chronic pain, or a health condition, as the careful pacing allows for greater body awareness and reduces the risk of strain. Please consult your doctor beforehand and let your instructor know about any concerns before class so they can offer appropriate modifications.

  • Yes. Holding poses for longer periods builds muscular endurance and deepens flexibility over time. Many students are surprised by how much they feel the effects of a slow class — it may look gentle from the outside, but the sustained effort adds up.

  • Definitely. Many experienced yogis find slow yoga a valuable counterbalance to more vigorous styles. Slowing down encourages you to refine your alignment, reconnect with your breath, and notice habits you might otherwise rush past. It can deepen your overall practice considerably.

  • Expect a calm, unhurried atmosphere with thoughtful instruction and plenty of time to settle into each pose. Classes often include breathing exercises, a brief meditation, or a longer final relaxation at the end. The overall tone is supportive and non-competitive — you're encouraged to work at your own pace throughout.

  • Breath is central to slow yoga. Your instructor will guide you to use the breath to ease into poses, release tension, and stay present. You'll likely leave with a greater awareness of how your breathing patterns affect both your body and your state of mind.

  • Yin yoga targets the deeper connective tissues — fascia, ligaments, and joints — by holding poses passively for several minutes at a time, usually close to the floor. Slow yoga is more varied in terms of postures and engages the muscles more actively. Both are unhurried practices, but they have different physiological aims.

  • Comfortable, stretchy clothing and a water bottle are all you need. I provide mats and props, but you're welcome to bring your own. Wearing an extra layer or bringing a blanket can be nice, as the slower pace means you may feel cooler than in a more active class.

  • Once a week is a wonderful starting point and will bring noticeable benefits over time. As with any yoga practice, consistency matters more than frequency — a regular weekly class will serve you far better than occasional intense bursts.

  • Not in the conventional sense, and that's entirely the point.  Slow gentle yoga works on a different level — calming the nervous system, reducing cortisol, and promoting deep physical and mental recovery. Many people find it surprisingly challenging simply to slow down and be still, especially at first.

  • Not at all. there's no need to have any particular level of flexibility.

  • It happens, and it's nothing to be embarrassed about. Falling asleep is actually a sign that your body feels safe enough to fully let go. Your instructor will gently guide you back if needed, but a little accidental nap is always welcome.

  • It is often recommended during pregnancy and recovery, but please consult your doctor or midwife first and inform your instructor before class.

 Yoga Class Etiquette

  • 5–10 minutes before the class starts.  It gives you time to settle in, find a comfortable spot, and arrive at your mat with a calm mind rather than a rushing one. Those quiet moments before class are a gift to yoursel

  • Life happens — I get it! But unfortunately if the class has started you may not be allowed in as this can be very disruptive to the flow of the class and everyone’s overall experience.

  • Make yourself at home! Just leave a little room between yourself and your neighbours so everyone has space to stretch and flow freely.

  • We invite you to give yourself a full break from your screen during class. Pop it on silent and tuck it away — this time is just for you.

  • No problem at all! Just you just me know before class, set up near the door, and slip out quietly before Savasana. I appreciate the thoughtfulness.

  • Never! Your body knows best. Rest in Child's Pose whenever you need to, and don't hesitate to ask for modifications — I am always happy to help you find what feels right for you.

  • A little pre-class chatter is always welcome — I  love community! Once class begins, I gently ask that you settle into silence so everyone can drop in fully.

  • Please try to stay for this one if you can — it's arguably the most important part of class! If you truly must leave early, let me know beforehand. The sound of packing up can pull others out of their rest, and we want everyone to get the full experience.

  • Not at all — you are so welcome here, exactly as you are. Whether this is your very first time on a mat or you've never even considered yoga before, this class is designed with you in mind. There's no experience required, no particular level of fitness needed, and absolutely nothing you need to know in advance.

I will guide you through everything, step by step, and there's always space to rest, modify, or simply take things at your own pace. Yoga isn't about getting it right — it's about showing up and being present.  There is no place for comparison or competition just come as you are.

  • My gentle yoga classes run for one hour — a lovely, unhurried pocket of time that's just long enough to fully leave the outside world behind and settle into your practice. Within that hour you can expect some gentle movement, breathing exercises, and a restful close to finish. Most people find the time passes beautifully and leave feeling like they've given themselves a real gift.

Sleepwell

  • Sleepwell is a calming audio library created to help you unwind, sleep more deeply, and feel genuinely rested. It brings together guided meditations, deep relaxation sessions, and breathwork practices — all designed to gently quiet the mind and help your body release the tension of the day.

  • The library includes three types of audio practice: guided meditations to settle a busy mind, guided deep relaxation sessions to ease your body into restorative rest (including Yoga Nidra-style practices), and breathwork exercises to regulate your nervous system and release stress. Sessions vary in length, so you’ll always find something that fits the time you have.

  • Sleepwell is for anyone who wants to sleep better, feel calmer, or simply carve out a little stillness in their day. You don’t need any previous experience with meditation or breathwork — every session is accessible, gently guided, and designed to meet you exactly where you are.

  • The Sleepwell library is your on-demand collection of audio sessions, available to listen to whenever you need them — at bedtime, during a lunch break, or any moment you want to decompress. It’s organised by practice type and session length, so you can find the right thing quickly and easily.

  • The library is regularly updated with fresh sessions, so there’s always something new to explore. Whether you’re looking for a different meditation to try, a new breathwork technique, or a longer relaxation for a slow Sunday, you’ll find the collection growing alongside you.

  • A guided meditation is an audio practice where a calm, steady voice gently leads your attention away from the busyness of the day and towards a quieter, more settled state of mind. Rather than trying to switch off on your own (which is easier said than done), you’re given something soft and steady to follow. Sessions range from just a few minutes to longer, more immersive practices.

  • Guided deep relaxation is one of the most nourishing things you can offer yourself. Your guide gently leads you into a state of deep, restorative rest — releasing tension from the body, slowing the breath, and often following a gentle visualisation — all while you lie down in complete comfort. The most well-known form is Yoga Nidra, sometimes called ‘yogic sleep’, where the body enters profound rest while the mind remains softly present. Even a short session can leave you feeling as though you’ve slept for far longer than you actually have.

  • Breathwork is the practice of consciously guiding the breath to shift how you feel. Different techniques have different effects: some are deeply calming and activate the body’s natural rest response, while others gently clear and energise the mind. All the breathwork sessions in Sleepwell are approached with care and are completely suitable for beginners

  • Sleepwell is available as a monthly membership for £12 per month. That gives you unlimited access to the full library for as long as your membership is active.

  • Full, unlimited access to the entire Sleepwell library — every meditation, relaxation session, and breathwork practice available. You’ll also enjoy all new content as it’s added, at no extra cost. Your membership simply continues at £12 per month or £99 annually until you choose to cancel.

  • No. Sleepwell is a rolling monthly membership with no minimum term. You’re free to cancel at any time, and you’ll retain access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.

  • You can cancel at any time from your account settings. No cancellation fees, no difficult processes. If you ever want to return, you’re always welcome back.

  • No but please try my free gift audio available in the footer of this site.

  • Not at all. Every session is designed to be fully accessible, whether this is your very first time trying meditation or you’ve been practising for years. Your guide will lead you through everything — all you need to do is find somewhere comfortable and press play.

  • Whenever feels right for you. Many members listen in the evening as part of a wind-down routine before bed, while others use a shorter session during the day when they need to reset. There’s no wrong time — the library is there whenever you need it.

  • Just a comfortable place to sit or lie down, and something to listen through — headphones or speakers, whichever you prefer. No special equipment, no prior knowledge, no preparation required.

  • Many people feel noticeably calmer after even a single session. Like any practice, the deeper benefits — better sleep, lower baseline stress, a greater sense of ease — tend to build gently over time with regular use. Even a few sessions a week can make a meaningful difference.

Tipi yoga and events

  • There’s plenty of parking available right at the venue — no need to worry about finding a space. From the car park it’s a gentle 2–3 minute walk across the field to reach the tipi, which is a lovely little stroll that sets the mood beautifully before class.

  • We’d recommend wellies or sturdy flat shoes for the walk across the field, especially after rain when the ground can be soft underfoot. Once you’re inside the tipi, you’ll practise in bare feet or socks as usual.

  • Please get in touch before you book and we’ll do everything we can to make arrangements that work for you. We never want the walk to be a barrier to joining us.

  • Warm, intimate, and genuinely magical. The tipi creates a wonderful sense of being sheltered by nature — canvas walls, soft natural light, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it the perfect place to slow down and breathe. We keep the space cosy and welcoming, whatever the season.

  • No need to worry — the tipi keeps you fully sheltered from the elements. Classes go ahead rain or shine, so you can commit to your booking with complete confidence. Just make sure you have wellies or sturdy footwear for the walk across the field.

  • We have a wood burner inside the tipi that keeps the space wonderfully snug and warm, and we always ensure it’s heated and welcoming well before you arrive. In cooler months we’d suggest bringing an extra layer or a cosy blanket for the final relaxation at the end of class, when the pace slows right down and you may feel the chill a little more.

  • Yes — as well as the wood burner inside, we have a fire pit nearby which creates a beautiful atmosphere, particularly for evening classes. There’s something really grounding about arriving or leaving by firelight.

  • Yes, we have a compost toilet on site — clean, well-maintained, and perfectly practical. Compost toilets are a wonderfully eco-friendly way of doing things, and ours works just like a regular loo. We want you to feel completely comfortable and taken care of from the moment you arrive.

  • Yes, we have running water available on site. We’d still recommend bringing your own water bottle to keep yourself hydrated throughout the class.

  • Comfortable, stretchy clothing is all you really need. A few useful things to have with you: a water bottle, an extra layer or cosy blanket for relaxation at the end of class, wellies or sturdy shoes for the walk across the field, and your own yoga mat if you have one — though we provide mats and all props. Leave the rest behind. This is your time to unplug.
